The decision to reintroduce the visa requirement is a response to a sharp increase in asylum claims by Jordanian nationals. In the most recent quarter, there were 261 asylum claims, underscoring the need for stricter controls. In addition to the visa requirement, Jordanian nationals now need a Direct Airside Transit Visa (DATV) when transiting through the UK.
