What are the eligibility requirements for a Global Talent visa?

How do I apply for a Global Talent visa?

Then you need to apply for the visa itself, which usually takes 3 weeks if you are outside the UK, or 8 weeks if you are inside the UK. You can apply for the visa at the same time as you apply for the endorsement, or after you have the endorsement confirmed.

How long does it take to get a decision on my visa application?

It usually takes 3 weeks, but it may take longer in some cases. You may be able to pay to get a faster decision. You will get an email or a letter containing the decision on your application.

Who can apply as a dependant of a Global Talent visa holder or applicant?

Your partner and children under 18 can apply as your dependants if they meet the eligibility criteria.

What evidence do I need to provide to prove my relationship to my dependant?

You need to provide either a marriage or civil partnership certificate, or proof that you have been living together in a relationship for at least 2 years. If you are not living together, you need to show that you have an ongoing commitment to each other. As for your children a Birth Certificate will be mandatory.

How can my dependant apply for a visa from outside or inside the UK?

Your dependant can apply online and pay the visa fee. They will need the main applicant’s number to link their application. They will also need to provide their biometric information and supporting documents at a UK Visa and Citizenship Application Services (UKVCAS) service point. What can my dependant do and not do with a Global Talent visa?

Your dependant can work, study, and access the National Health Service (NHS) with a Global Talent visa. They can also apply to settle permanently in the UK after 5 years if they meet the requirements. They cannot apply for most benefits, the State Pension, or change to another visa category.

How much does it cost to apply for a Global Talent Visa?

What are the eligibility requirements for extending a Global Talent visa?

You must have either an endorsement from an organisation in your field of expertise, or an eligible award that has not been withdrawn. You must also show that you earned money in your expert field during your time in the UK

How long can you stay in the UK with the extension?

You can apply to extend your visa for up to 5 years at a time. You can renew your visa as many times as you like, if you still meet the eligibility requirements.

Who can apply to switch to a Global Talent visa?

You can apply to switch to a Global Talent visa if you are already in the UK on a different type of visa, and you have either proven that you are a leader or potential leader in one of the fields, or you have won a prestigious prize in one of the fields

How long does it take to get a decision on your Global Talent Visa application from within the UK?

When applying from within the UK decisions are usually made within 8 weeks of your application date. You may be able to pay to get a faster decision5. You must not travel outside of the UK, Ireland, the Channel Islands or the Isle of Man until you get a decision6.

Who cannot switch in to Global Talent Visa?

You cannot apply to switch to a Global Talent visa if you’re currently in the UK in one of the following circumstances:

  • you were given permission to stay outside the immigration rules, for example on compassionate grounds
  • you’re on immigration bail
  • you have a visitor visa
  • you have a short-term student visa
  • you have a Parent of a Child Student visa
  • you have a seasonal worker visa
  • you have a domestic worker in a private household visa
  • you have permission to stay that was given by the UK government or the Crown Dependencies (Jersey, Guernsey or the Isle of Man) as part of a coronavirus (COVID-19) concession
  • you’re here for exceptional or compassionate reasons
