Common Issues People Face When Applying for Their eVisa (Part 2)

In the second part of our article, we dive deeper into the technical and procedural challenges people face when applying for their eVisa. Building on the issues covered in Part 1, here are additional problems and practical solutions to streamline the application process.

Issue 1: Problems with Chip Detection

Problem:
Many applicants struggle with getting their device to detect the chip. This issue is especially common when using phones with protective covers or non-compatible devices.

Solution:

  • Use an Android device, as it is generally more compatible with the system.
  • Remove any phone covers or cases that could interfere with the chip-reading process.
  • Scan the chip carefully, holding the phone steady over the passport or BRP card.
  • If your phone cannot read the chip after three attempts, your account will be temporarily blocked for 24 hours.

If you continue to face issues, contact the Home Office directly for assistance.

Issue 2: Unable to View eVisa Despite Approval Email

Problem:
Some applicants receive an email from the Home Office stating that their eVisa is ready to view, but they are unable to find it or access their status.

Solution:
This issue is often caused by a delay or technical error on the Home Office’s side. You should contact the Home Office using the Report an eVisa Error service. The Home Office will typically take up to 10 working days to respond with a solution.

Issue 3: Missing App Link

Problem:
After creating an account and logging in, applicants sometimes do not see any link to download the UK Immigration: ID Check app.

Solution:

  • There is no link to download the app. Instead, you will find the QR code on the initial application, but you must scroll down to see it.
  • However, you can download the app directly from your device’s app store or Play Store without any issues.
  • Once downloaded, start the registration process, fill out your information and use the connection code to link the app to your account. This proactive approach will save time and prevent delays.

Applying for an eVisa can be challenging, but being aware of common issues and solutions can make the process smoother. We always recommend using Android devices due to their compatibility and ease of use with the eVisa system.
