Common Issues People Face When Applying for Their eVisa (Part 1)

Applying for an eVisa can be a daunting process, and many applicants encounter various challenges along the way. In this article, we will discuss some of the most common issues people face when applying for their eVisa and provide practical solutions to help you understand these obstacles. Stay tuned for Part 2, where we will address additional issues and offer solutions from our skilled lawyers.

Issue 1: Difficulty Finding the QR Code on the Site from a Laptop

Problem: Many applicants struggle to locate the QR code on the eVisa application site when using a laptop.

Solution: To find the QR code, log in to your eVisa application account on the website. Once logged in, the system will provide you with two options: the connection code and the QR code. The connection code is generated on the UK Immigration ID Check app and can often be easier to use. However, if you wish to use the QR code, scroll down on the website, and you will find it displayed there. If the applicant is facing issues in finding the QR code, we highly recommend them to use the connection code. They must have the application open on the website so they can connect the app with the application.

Issue 2: Linking Account with a New BRP

Problem: Some applicants have created their accounts using an old Biometric Residence Permit (BRP) and are unsure how to link their account with a new BRP.

Solution: The Home Office has clear guidelines on this issue. You can access the system and select the option of “Update My Account.” Follow the instructions to update your details. The Home Office typically takes up to 10 working days to update the system with your new BRP card or passport information. Once the new identification document is added to the file, the Home Office will send you an email notification. As soon as it is added, we recommend you try accessing the application and activate the eVisa with the new document.

Issue 3: BRC Card Registration Issues

Problem: Applicants with a Biometric Residence Card (BRC) often face difficulties registering for an eVisa, as the application may incorrectly label the BRC as the wrong document.

Solution: If you encounter this issue, report it to the Home Office or contact them directly for assistance. If you keep getting an error message on the app when trying to scan the BRP card, Morgan Smith Lawyers recommend contacting the Home Office or adding your passport to the UKVI account to activate the eVisa.
